I’m Yi Gu (顾逸, gù yì), a Ph.D. student in Data Science at Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute of UC San Diego, advised by Prof. Zhiting Hu. I expect to graduate at the end of 2026.

Prior to joining UCSD, I obtained my B.ENG. degree at ACM Honors Class, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in June 2022, advised by Prof. Yong Yu.

My research interest lies in foundational models and reasonings. I currently working on building World Models (PAN) and related reasoning systems, aiming for the next-generation machine reasoning beyond LLMs. I focus more on the ML-infra starting from PAN project, including CUDA kernels, distributed systems, compiles and graphs, and detailed profiling, for both training and inference. Previously, I work on the training algorithm and reasoning ability of LLMs (RAP, Reasoners) and world models (Pandora).
